“By meeting with pastors one-on-one, I can delve into their personal dreams and plans while walking with them as they navigate their lives,” said Wallace Costa, our lead Coach for the Brazilian mission. LoveServes International is in the ministry of loving communities and carrying one another’s burdens, one pastor at a time.
There are 3.2 billion people who do not know Christ. We believe to reach people well, we must train pastors who in turn empower others to do the work of the ministry; a catalyst for community transformation.
Wallace meets with pastors twice a month: once in a group session with 12-15 pastors and once in a one-on-one individual coaching session via Zoom. By using this ministry model, he dives deeper into the personal needs of each pastor, helping them fulfill their unique goals of loving their communities and equipping their churches to become the hands and feet of Jesus.
In collaboration with Igreja Congregacional Evangélica do Brasil, the Union of Evangelical Congregational Churches of Brazil, LoveServes International has tapped into a network of 350 congregations with 500 ordained clergymen. “I wish I could multiply myself,” said Wallace, as he shared his passion for one-on-one coaching. “But if everyone together could just start doing something for the Kingdom, we would put shoes on our Faith by serving our communities.”
THE MULTIPLICATION HE PRAYED FOR IS NOW HAPPENING!
A group of five LoveServes trained pastors in Rio De Janeiro, are each preparing to launch brand new training groups with 3-5 pastors! This is a strategic paradigm shift to training that will affect LoveServes in every country. Small group training is intentional for discipleship as Wallace describes it. Training the trainer is key because Wallace engages with one pastor (a Coach) instead of 5-6. This sustainable growth model is an exciting pathway to the Gospel being lived out in local churches and communities in Brazil. The Lord is working mightily in the fields of harvest!
Brazilian pastors are taking ownership of expanding the transformative training provided by LoveServes International. Wallace will continue as the Lead Coach, mentoring, encouraging, and teaching the next generation. The ultimate goal is to hand the baton to our Brazilian ministry partners to continue expanding and multiplying the impact in their own communities.
“LOOK, I TELL YOU, LIFT UP YOUR EYES, AND SEE THAT THE FIELDS
ARE WHITE FOR HARVEST.” — JOHN 4:35
God is at work in the local churches in Brazil. As a result of LoveServes training, pastors are equipping their churches with an outward focus to actively love their neighbors:
- One pastor met with his entire congregation and encouraged each person to think about ways they can reach their individual communities: teenagers created ways to reach other teenagers; mothers discovered ways to minister to other mothers; seniors found creative moments to impact other seniors; school children dreamt of how to influence their classmates; and more.
- Another pastor challenged his congregation to discover ways to reach the community by utilizing the bus stop in front of the church where more than 100,000 people pass by every day. They developed a strategy to bring people into the doors of the church, rather than complacently watching as they pass by.
Through these local churches, lives are being changed, communities are being transformed, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is actively proclaimed.
Local churches are excited to implement what they learned through LoveServes’ training.
Please join this Kingdom impact that God is orchestrating through LoveServes International, Wallace Costa, and our new team of coaches in Brazil. Your donation helps us fulfill our mission “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12) and to develop Healthy Churches in all nations, equipping God’s people to make disciples, who make disciples (Matthew 28:19).
